I solved the problem. I just edited /etc/modules, and at the last line I
added snd-es18xx. sound works fine now.

I did a clean install, then put 8.04 LTS and had sound. Upgraded off the
internet, no sound.

Same problem...
I have a MBP Penryn so a intel sound card.
I made upgrade with alternate cd and no problem. This morning I updated the
system and I have no more sound.
All I can ear is scrchscrchscrchscrchscrchscrchscrch
I tried to disable pulseaudio and use alsa but no success...
