I am on 32-bit with Gnome and Compiz and I lose control of the mouse.
Resolution is fine, though.

same for me. using Intrepid 8.10 64bit version with desktop effects (compiz)
enabled. installed sauerbraten via synaptic - after playing for e.g. 15 mintes
suddenly fullscreen ist lost and the only chance to quit is ctrl-alt-backspace
as described.
seems to be a common problem.

Sauerbraten
Almost the same problem on my 32 bit Intrepid with Xfce and Compiz enabled:
Sauerbraten resolution is the right one, but I can't move the mouse (which has
a strange halo) except when I switch app back and forth, then I can move it for
2 secs til it stops so I have to do the switching again.
Doo
This bug seems to affect other fullscreen 3D games running in compiz.
