Nevermind, seems to be fixed(so far!) in 1.3.5. Get the repos from the
Scribus website and install scribus-ng.

This bug is still in version 1.3.3.12 in Jaunty. I seriously doubt
they're still working on it upstream, since the last post made to that
bug report was back in 2006. In three years they still haven't bothered
to use a standard clipboard like most of the rest of the Linux world.
Disappointing.

This is expected behavior for the Scribus application, and is being
tracked as a bug upstream there.
