I could and in fact did just trigger it with GLSlideshow. And I didn't have to
wait a minute - mouse movement is ignored from the very moment the screensaver

I think that this bug definately fits the description of a usability bug

Thanks for reporting this bug and any supporting documentation. Since

Installed xubuntu 8.10 on my laptop over the weekend and it has the same
issue. Mouse movement alone doesn't keep the screen saver from
activating and once activated the screen saver won't turn off with mouse
movement either. Once the monitor shuts itself off then mouse movement
will bring it back.
Same problem. Although, I've also noticed that mouse movement alone will
not keep the screen saver from activating either. That is, if I don't

click around surfing or whatever the screen saver will still come on. If

I confirm this problem too with 64bit intrepid and openGL screensavers.
I have a radeonX700 so I'm pretty certain this isn't driver/card
related. As a side-note I did *not* have this problem until I
reformatted. Originally I upgraded to intrepid from hardy (both 64bit)
and didn't have this problem.
I have done fresh install with partition formatting,
no special settings to user nor screensaver.
And I _have_ this problem with several opengl screensavers

Confirming same problem here. I've got an nVidia GeForce 6200 and am using the

Hmmm If I move the mouse a lot (ie, from one side of my desk to the

Same thing here. Two observations may help debug this problem.
1) if I wait long enough for the monitor to go into hardware sleep,
moving the mouse kills the screensaver.
2) Mouse motion kills the screensaver if it comes on while the log on
screen is up.
