Marking as Fix Released for OpenOffice.org since it no longer uses
gnome-vfs and works properly with gvfs-fuse.

In Ubuntu 9.04 beta this issue seems to be solved. OOo opens and saves
files on samba shares correctly (as far as I could test).

Do you still have this problem on Jaunty? We have switched OOo to using
gvfs fuse instead of gnome-vfs on it.
Thanks,

I'm having the same problem accessing it over a normal network. Opening
files in any other program is fine, but in Open Office I am being asked
for a username and password on domain WORKGROUP when that is not the
name of my domain.

Oops :( I don't see how to reassign the upstream bug in launchpad as
gnome-vfs though.
Thanks for catching that.

that's a gvfs issue?

This is a gvfs bug according to gvfs upstream but I am leaving it open
against OOo as well since it is often seen there and makes it easier for
people to find the bug report.

Hi,
ok but this is not a real solution if you are working in a company. You
can't change the domain name (Active Directory Name) only because one
user can't open documents with openoffice. ;-)

Workaround or solution for this is to change your default domain in
smb.conf
$ sudo gedit /etc/samba/smb.conf
# Change this to the workgroup/NT-domain name your Samba server will part of
workgroup = MYDOMAIN
$ /ect/init.d/samba restart

Hi, we have the same Problem. In OpenOffice < 2.4 I changed the domain
name and all was ok. But with the newer versions (also 3.0!) I can't do
this!
