i just wanted to thank you tamalet for posting that, i wanted to delete
my windows partition and make ubuntu bigger but couldnt use the free
space. I did as you said and I can now use all the space on the disk,

I experienced the same problem with Ubuntu 9.10, however, I noticed that
there was an icon with a pair of keys next to the swap and the extended
partition suggesting that they were locked. So I right clicked on the
swap partition and chose swap off. This took off the keys icon from both
the swap an
