I see both a gsfonts and a fontconfig bug here; with gsfonts installed,
/etc/fonts/conf.d/30-defoma.conf includes a mapping of Palatino to
URWPalladio via /etc/defoma/hints/gsfonts.hints, and fontconfig itself
also includes an equivalent mapping in /etc/fonts/conf.d/30-urw-
