i might have done that indeed. if i did i just have tgo highlight the
menu entry and press ctrl+m this time to get it to its previous state?

well i use Google Talk only. i can't replicate it, i mean, i was
chatting and suddenly i couldnt press A anymore. restarted pidgin a
couple of times and had the same issue. im sure my keyboard doesnt have
any key stuck. is like the shortcut for New Message is now A

I can't replicate. Can you post the exact steps you go through to
replicate this error? Also, can you report what protocol (AIM, ICQ,
