I couldn't get /var/log/messages because the computer freezes before
getting write access to the disk. Nevertheless, in my successful boots,
I get "uvesafb: probe of uvesafb.0 failed with error -22" at about 4sec
from boot, which correspond to the freeze time. So, I added
"video=uvesafb:off" to the
I have not been able to test much Alpha 6. But it has booted 2 times correctly.
I have read about the issue of Alpha 6 corrupting Intel network cards, and the
computer has 2 of those.
So I will test more when the Intel card issue is fixed, I guess in next beta.

I have this problem too on a dell xps1330 with an Intel X3100. I figured
out that booting with the power cord plugged in will fail while on
battery it always works. Once booted, you can plug back in and it works.
Does this fix work for anyone?

I can confirm this. I'm using Intrepid Alpha6 on a Dell Studio 1535 with
the same video card. The funny thing is, sometimes it boots up
correctly, but some times the screen gets messed up with red/orange and
the booting hangs. I have to turn off my notebook by pressing the
shutdown button for 5 sec
