Thanks for the feedback. I'll mark this as a "all settings lost after
crash" as that seems to be the worst behaviour here (crashing is what
compiz does well ;) ). It's low importance as others don't seem to be
getting the problem so if you are shout out if this is widespread.

Well at the time I reported this bug I'm pretty sure I was on 8.04.
Now I'm on 8.10 and the crashes are mostly gone but times to time when
Compiz crash expectingly, I still occasionally lose all my Compiz
preferences. I exported my them into a flat file and reload them when
