My patch was and is broken. I will look for a better fix when I have the
time, but I am not entierly sure this is only the fault of linuxdcpp

I think the main issue is that LinuxDC++ doesn't handle it very well if
your share is on a network share (I'm using it with a 500GB smb share
and see the same GUI slowness). I think it would be nice to have
LinuxDC++ recognize network shares, since some of people like to move
their shares to a dedi
