I just downloaded Kubuntu 8.10 and after a frustrating day trying to find and
use an installer for the software for which I installed a Linux, came across
this thread.
Thank you, I have installed Kpackage (it is not included with the 8.10
distribution), and will now see if it works.

Adept is no longer included in the coming version of Kubuntu (which uses
Kpackagekit instead).
Moreover Adept is no longer maintained anymore, so it's very unlikely that a
fix will come for Adept in Intrepid..
You won't see this bug with Kpackagekit.

Here is another example:
Searching for "pdf" gives several results, including xpdf but NOT kpdf.
Searchning for "kpdf" gives one result: kpdf.
Expected result: kpdf should be included in the search for pdf.

I've updated this bug's description to make it clear that I filed it due
to missing package name searching (though then I didn't know, package
name searching was missing).
Searching by package name is included, so I consider this bug fixed.
It's a totally different issue that searching in Adept 3
