Billy, your proposal is not bad as long as there ain't any better
solution.
I would suggest to tell the user to pick any file in the desired
directory. This is not the finest style but seems to be the best
possible way...
Maybe this should be filed as a bug for Konquror as well?

This is a limitation of a file upload form element. Javascript could be
used to strip the filename off of the path, but the user would have to
still select a file from the directory desired. This will be a problem
as long as it is using a web interface in this fashion.
