The problem has resolved after a re-installation and update. I no
longer face this problem.

the .xsession-errors file? I tried waiting but made no difference.

I have been facing it in Ubuntu 8.04 since a couple of weeks. This
happens every time I bootup in the morning that when I login, the panel
appears but the panel applets/contents do not load following it. Instead
various apps which open up when I login such as Tomboy Search Window,
Liferea, BasKet e
