That does lead to an oddity:

I am unable to reproduce this bug using network manager
0.7~~svn20080720t224551+eni1-0ubuntu1. Can you double check which
version you are using? Running apt-cache showsrc network-manager | grep
dsc |awk '{split($0,out," "); print out[3]}' should tell you.
