I too appear to have at least a similar issue. I was viewing flash
videos in Firefox when the system froze and both my caps lock and scroll
lock keys started to blink. This required a hard reboot. Required
files are attached.

only way the computer stays below 70C is by downclocking itself to
800mhz. I dual boot this machine with Windows and under the same

I installed linux-image-2.6.27-1-generic via Synaptic. The results are
the same as with 2.6.24-19-generic. I even updated acpid and
restarted it but no effect. The temperatures are:
- after the boot (on-demand governor, showing 600MHz):

The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the
upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would
appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel.
