Attached patch to fix the 24 hour combo. Not raised upstream as we use
an obsolete version of GDM.

Still present in Ubuntu 8.10 with gdm package version 2.20.8-0ubuntu3 as well.
The workaround, as described by Nils-Anders Nøttseter above, still works.

Work-around: Edit /etc/gdm/gdm.conf-custom manually and add
"Use24Clock=yes" in the [greeter] configuration.
