The cause of the problem was already found by someone else: http://osdir.com/ml/linux.kernel.suspend.devel/2007-10/msg00091.html "rmmod ehci_hcd" makes suspend/resume work (more or less). What remains is a distorted X server display that I can reproduce with 2.6.24.7 and that cannot be fixed with
