Hey Hervé,
I just tried with Kate 3.2.1 (KDE 4.2.1) and this seems to working just
fine, so I suppose we can consider this bug fixed for 9.04+
If you find it still not working for you, please reopen this report.

Strangely, if I build Kate from the Ubuntu sources, it does not
present the bug!?!

I can reproduce this bug here. It only appears if you try to open the
file using the text field. The error message also says that I sould
check my permissions.
My Versions:
Kubuntu 8.10
KDE 4.1.3
Kate 3.1.3
