This bug is not about switching the desktop environment (Gnome/KDE), as the user can do this themselves. It is about the window manager (metacity/kwin/compiz) used in each environment. I'm saying that I think installing kubuntu-desktop should not cause a switch to kwin for Gnome. If ubuntu-desktop
