Thank you for reporting this, it appears to be fixed in the original
Intrepid stable release and does not occur in Jaunty.

This happens with quite a few apps as they use the same bg color as the
input box. I guess it is a problem of not having enough colors defined
in gtk. http://wiki.ubuntu.com/Artwork/NewHumanTesting shows the known
problems with the dark theme.

I have to agree with Dylan on this one. Adding exceptions for the theme
is nothing but a quick workaround. The problem should actually be fixed
instead of adding a workaround for the theme. We should take this bug
and file it against gedit instead.

Should this bug be filed with gedit? It does not seem feasible for the theme to
maintain exceptions for these types of popups. From the looks of it, gedit
itself is assuming dark text while arbitrarily choosing a background colour.

I confirmed this with Intrepid and gedit 2.23.1-0ubuntu1 - I think the
real problem is found in human-theme 0.21. When I switched to the legacy
human-theme, the problem was resolved. See attached for screenshot using
the new human-theme.
