python2.5 2.5.2-2ubuntu5 was uploaded to the hardy-proposed repository,
but later removed as it didn't qualify for a SRU (see bug 227686).
Therefore, the current version of python2.5 in Ubuntu 8.04.1 is
2.5.2-2ubuntu4. Because you are running the hardy-proposed repository,
you upgraded the python2.
Could you please post the output of the following commands please:
apt-cache policy python2.5
apt-cache policy python2.5-dev
