Thanks for the tip. Sure enough, build 17880 came in via that web
page's instructions and has fixed the problem for me (even on a severely
corrupted HD stream).

Yes, you are probably right about that. However, it's a bit of a pain to
do Stable Release Updates, so we'll probably only apply selected patches.
