Please run the following command and test:
firefox-3.0 --safe-mode
By the looks of your extensions this can be caused by a number of them
including the cutemenus but i have seen issues with most of the ones you have
installed.

The same happens to me about any new bookmark in firefox 3.0.7 / ubuntu
8.10, and a new strange firefox's behaviour: all the time that firefox
tries to start, it opens a full size window and i need to use F11 key to
get normal size. Is it a normal behaviour in this version?

Happens to me too - i can only add items to bookmarks toolbar, but not
remove or modify existing ones.

I finally solved creating a new profile from the scratch and than copying all
the setting and bookmarks.
Bookmarks and saved password can be copied easily, the other setting can be set
in few minutes.
In my case the problem seemed to be in the places.sqlite file but anything
solved the problem b
i'm having same problem it started like a week ago also when i organize
the bookmarks into each folder when i restart firefox all the bookmark
are out of the folder i placed them before

I have the same problem in ubuntu 8.10.
I tried removing places.sqlite, it recovers my bookmarks but the problem is
still here.

I had this exact problem. I found that changes to the bookmarks did not
hold over to the next session. Weirdly enough, they would hold over if I
did a bookmark backup, though (without having to import that backup).
In any case, I got tired of backing up my bookmarks any time I wanted to
