After I removed some outdated kernel module packages that were causing an older version of the iwlagn driver to be loaded, the newer 2.3.5 iwlagn driver was used, and that's significantly helped this problem. I don't know if it's as fast as OS X, but it's a lot faster than it used to be. Now I ca
