I have created my own branch, and I have linked it to this bug. This is
the first time I have prepared a patch in a bzr branch, so if I have

That's correct, but this is why bzr is good - you can make your own
branch on Launchpad, which we can then merge from.

It looks like you need to be a member of the Ubuntu Development Team
(ubuntu-dev) in order to upload to the mplayer bzr branch. If this is
not the case, please correct me. Otherwise, could a member of the Ubuntu
Development Team take care of uploading my patch to the bzr?
