I've been able to solve this in Intrepid, though it's not fixed out of
the box.
A fresh install of Intrepid on the C600 fails to detect the screen
resolutions properly, and runs at 800x600. This is filed as bug #284309.
In this state, the suspend problem still exists. After configuring X to
use 10

I have the identical problem on my Dell C600 (screen goes to white on
suspend). Bug did not exist under Gutsy Gibbon.
