Same issue for me, also on photosmart 7450. I managed to get one test
page out of the printer and that's it. What is happening is that the
printer disappears from the usb channel. Why it does that I do not know
but the computer really cannot communicate to the printer anymore when
it is gone. I

This seems to be a wake-up problem on some (probably older) printer
models.
Usually, a printer should wake up from power-saving mode simply by
sending a job (or even any kind of status or ink level request) to the
printer, a special wake-up command should not be needed. But one never
knows whether

I have had the same problem for over a year with Fedora and now Ubuntu.
I am currently running Ubuntu 10.04 with hplip 3.10.2-2ubuntu2.1 and
cups 1.4.3-1ubuntu1.3. Is there a plan to fix this bug?

After an really media-jam, I get every time the media-jam error. The
printer prints, but the error comes... I don't know whether the message
come before the really jam, but I have really noticed the error bubble
since the jam.
The error comes if I print from my notebook (ubuntu 9.10) to the

Marking confirmed, because I have done extensive troubleshooting, and
definately there is a problem with this and have tried every combination
of app-armor disabling, running as root, and everything. And this but is
reproduced by a significant portion of users using hplip on usb inkjet
printers on

Ok I have more details now. When I try to print from a remote machine
via cups http server then it locks up and gives the media jam/other
errors. Then I must unplug and replug the printer's power to work again.
printing locally from firefox or gedit or print test page works fine.
But once locked up
