this issue occured in 8.04 and 8.10 version of kubuntu (i still have 2 machines running 8.04 and 8.10 and this happens on both of them) i have gone back to using gnome (ubuntu) rather than kde 4 (kubuntu) i did fix the problem on kubuntu 8.10 by removing all kde bluetooth packages and installing
