what menu do you use? the errors seem to indicate you are running the
gnome-main-menu variant and not the standard ubuntu one

Also I can't update packages.. from no programs: synaptic, add/remove
and update manager.

Setting IM through im-switch for locale=it_IT.
Start IM through /etc/X11/xinit/xinput.d/all_ALL linked to
/etc/X11/x
No, games work.
As I can see, only Synpatic and OpenOffice don't run.
But if I open OpenOffice from a file, then it loads.
Yes: rebooted / logged out many times.
Should you see some other log?
