What about watching a flash video in Firefox? I've often noticed that
the screensaver starts while the video is on. Should we file a bug for
Firefox or for Flash?
Same question with the upcoming Firefox 3.5 with ogg videos: which
application will be responsible for inhibiting the screensaver?

Applications should tell GNOME Screensaver if they're doing something
that shouldn't have screensaver running like giving a presentation or
viewing a movie. This isn't something that should be done by a user, it

OK, sorry, I misunderstood the purpose of the applet. I still think
thought that it would be nice to have a simple way to inhibit not just
suspend, but also the screensaver. I know people who use PowerPoint in a
Virtual machine for presentations. Because the mouse is captured, the X
server doesn't
The inhibit appelt should only inhibit the suspend action, not the
screensaver: in fact the inhibit applet is part of
gnome-power-manager!

Same here, inhibit applet doesn't prevent the screensaver from kicking
it - isn't that the purpose of the applet?

For me inhibit applet does not work at all. It does not prevent screen
from blanking and locking. Both "activate" and "lock" are checked.
