Good news. I just tried Intrepid Alpha 5, and the machine freezes bad
with the default option, but boots fine with "noapic nolapic". I got it
to boot once with just "nolapic", but when I tried it again it failed.

1) we still don't know why this works, and it would be useful to correct it in
such a way that people can make it work easily.
2) for some reason, ACPI will not sh
