When the filename contains quotes, Firefox can't export the page to PDF
but nevertheless no error message is reported to the user. It's very
frustrating because the user thinks that the page is saved, but it
isn't,

in print dialog you can use the "print to file" printer ... there you
can select the directory.

Also, if you print two different pages from the same domain, the second
one overwrites the first (as the default name is the web). So I cannot
work quickly, for example taking different news from the same web
magazine, as I need to go each time to the pdf download directory and
rename the file.

Yes, the PDF goes to: Home/PDF/[default name of the web].pdf.
The thing is that in the office work I extract lots of PDFs from the net
that I classify in different folders, and Adobe in Windows gave the
option to name the file and the directory, whereas Firefox does not, and
I have to do it afterw
