Hi James,
I read your comment and tried to reproduce the crash on my new PC, running 8.10.
I did all the steps I describes in my first post, but
polkit-gnome-authorization did not crash.
Maybe something fixe

Hi,
I am unable to make this crash on Intrepid.
My steps were
1) Create new user
2) Run polkit-gnome-authorization as my normal user
3) Go to freedesktop/hal/power-management/Shut down the system and click
"Block"
4) Select the new user and don't set any constraints.
5) Restart polkit
