update 2: After burning the bootloader I just can upload a sketch once.
The next try gives the same error again. So I have to burn the
bootloader again.

update: After applying all the mentions above, burning the bootloader
via USBtiny and arduino-017 I was able to upload sketches again without
any errors :-D. Thanks for your hints!

my problem is definitly not librxtx. I did a lot of working 64-bit
installations beginning from 8.10 to 9.10 with different arduino-version
(I guess I started with 014, not sure) and descripted it for example

Otherwise you can try to install Lucid package:

Please note that I don't have tested those.

Hi guys,
I'm subscripted to this bug, because I can't upload arduino sketcher to
ATMEGA328s but only to to ATMEGA168s with arduino 017 on Ubuntu 9.10
64bit. Following your suggestions I downloaded the latest Lucid avrdude
release for AMD64 from
http://packages.ubuntu.com/lucid/amd64/avrdude/downlo
I'd be glad to. I'll get around to it later in the week.
Would you mind pointing me to the latest Lucid release for AMD64?

I found the best way to fix this was to replace the lines in usbtiny.c in
avrdude that have
sizeof(res)
with
4
i was unable to aply the patches (lol kuss i am a noob)
