Hi,
So you are saying that wicd doesn't work when "lo" is configured in
/etc/network/interfaces? That sounds like a bug in wicd to me.
It seems we know the bug here now, so I'm going to modify
the report to reflect that.
I'm not sure that there is much that can be done about this.

i used wicd replacing network-manager and i got to enable the
/etc/network/interfaces

#iface lo inet loopback

to let wicd works but the gnome-setting-daemons failed to load up as usuals
where it took too long time.
