Thanks for your reply. I am now using release 8.04 but still have the
version 7 disk. Should I need to re-install Ubuntu from my old disk, I
can use the text mode instead of the graphic mode. I hope no other
laptop users experience the same issue with version 7.04.

Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue
