I don't mean to sound arrogant in any way (please don't take offense),
there are just times I depend on Aptitude to uninstall all a
(meta)package's dependencies.

I understand that, but the way Aptitude has always worked for me before,
if I installed a metapackage with it, I could uninstall everything I
installed by uninstalling the metapackage. Apt-get and other package
managers don't work that way, but Aptitude does (thus the reason I
prefer to use it).
