So, in other words, the fonts that were colored blue could not be
changed back to black?
Also, the grid lines would not show around these fonts with the stuck
blue color?
The only fix I found to work across the board was to highlight
everything, hit delete key and delete only the formatting. This
In Ubuntu 8.10 (releasedy today) all the text I saw in the document
where the background was white already black text to begin with. I was
able to change the font color to blue (not blue to black but from black
to blue) and also I was able to make no fill turn off the white
background color.

I don't believe this bug is completely invalid.
My spreadsheets have no background colors and some grid lines do not
show up. I have tried setting the background color to "no fill" with
only partial success.
Now in Intrepid, cells that will not show grid lines also will not allow

This actually isn't a bug but intended behavior that ooo-build did to
fix a bug with excel compatibility. The reason it looks different from
official openoffice.org is that they have not added the patch yet.
