Hi, i use same laptop (Asus F5R) and having same problem. All package have
updated current kernel 2.6.24-28-generic
. Is there any update?? what should i do to fix this?

And if you're still trying to use wl module on Ubuntu 8.04/8.10, have
you checked that the ssb and b43 modules are unloaded?
Also see Bug #227158 about blacklisting them and Bug #393689 about
restricted drivers manager.

Have you tried using the b43 driver instead of wl? (you need to download
firmware for it separately, or using an ethernet internet connection)
Have you also checked if this bug still appears in latest Ubuntu 9.10?

Also found out that the green wireless light on my laptop lights up for
half a second when i flip the wlan switch and then dissapear again.

I have now installed Ubuntu 8.10 beta. Now my wireless wont work at all.
Noticed that hardware drivers from the menu has installed propitary
driver called "wl".

I removed the intrepid sources, and apt-get uninstall linux-
image-2.6.27-2-generic.
This message appears:
"The link /vmlinuz is a damaged link

Removing symbolic link initrd.img
Just installed linux-image-2.6.27-2-generic by apt-get, but it did not change
this problem.
I still have to flip the switch every time ubuntu starts. Not hard to do but
quite annoying...
When i used 7.10 this problem was not present... What has changed?

Yup, sorry for any confusion, you will need to enable the Intrepid
repository in order to get the 2.6.27 kernel. Otherwise I believe the
2.6.27 kernel is already on the daily live iso images -

upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would
appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel.
