Still an issue with 10.04 LTS Lucid Lynx.
Driver is nvidia, but unsure if this is the issue.
Is this about how the Window Manager defines the layout of the screens?

I guess it's assign to the wrong package. I tried the nouveau driver
instead of the nvidia driver and the problem still exists. I think that
means that the window manager is to blame for this and not the video
driver. So in theory people with other cards/drivers should have the
same problem. Can so
I have the same problem Alex described. I am using Ubuntu 8.10 with
nvidia driver version 177 and 180, with and without compiz. Something
new on this?

I think I have the same issue, let me expose mine.
I have a laptop, which is my "primary" screen and an external screen
connected to my VGA output, which is my "secondary" screen. I want to
make that secondary screen "ABOVE" my laptop screen. Fine, I've been
able to manage this through the "nvidia
