player to verify it's not the DVD disc that's broken?

I have a problem that may be the same in the jaunty release. Multi-
language .AVIs (ripped from DVD) play a random language. Closing totem
and re-opening the same file picks a new language. It is possible the
languages are not tagged correctly in the .AVI, but it doesn't seem like
it should be r
any news about this? did somebody sent it upstream ? may you tell us the

I am having the same problem in Movie Player. I have been attempting to
play commercial DVDs (as in NOT home-burned). These default to Spanish
and I have no access to the DVD menu to change the language, nor can I
select any subtitles that would normally be on the DVD. Under the
"Languages" menu fr

Tested with CSI: Miami, second season, disc 1:
totem-gstreamer: Spanish (3 for 3 tries)
totem-xine: English
gxine: English
The gstreamer backend skips the DVD menu, which might be the cause of
this. With gstreamer, the settings are all wrong (Spanish, directory
commentary on, etc.) Xine back
I can confirm the behavior. However, it is quite complicated. After
inserting a DVD, when totem-gstreamer starts up automatically, it will
often not play english. However, sometimes it plays one foreign
language, or another, or it plays the commentary track, or it does
actually play english. I
