that would be useful, most users seem to not care, nobody complained
about that before you and that's not something the ubuntu desktop team
to work on since there is quite some higher priority issues to solve

I think it would be a small but intuitive nicety if it was no delay on
first failed attempt, but then its a normal 3 second delay on the second
failed attempt.

delay on wrong login and that's somebody the ubuntu desktop team will
change

i was just clearing up bugs obviously nobody has processed before. my
decision is in no way final or guranteed to be correct. feel free to
reopen and mark gdm as being affected so the guys over there can have a
look at it. but without a package this bug would not get any attention
whatsoever...
