The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the
upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would
appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel.
There are one of two ways you should be able to test:
1) If you are comfortable
i shifted the disk into another x31, and it work perfectly. so i now
think this must be a hardware fault. should i close it, or is there a

maybe its not the mixing. its the 1GB module. i tried with just that and got a
crash within minutes of md5summing.
/proc/kmsg via ssh

maybe it is hardware related (but could all be chance).
the laptop is new to me, it came with 2x256MB. i swapped one of those for a new
1GB module. all the crashes (and the memchecks) where with the mixed ram.
yesterday i swapped back to the original memory, and have not had the
crash or bag page
