there are no separate options for headphone channel with the new gnome sound

I had the same problem too and this is how I solved it.

Channel
- The "Headphone Jack Sense" Parameter was set to "Off". I think this is the
default setting. Press "M" to
I am running 9.04 on a Fujitsu Lifebook. This last update introduced a
variety of sound issues, so I can't determine if this bug is new or not.
Basically:
* Headphone track in mixer has no effect on any sound outputs
* "Front" track affects both laptop speakers and headphones

I've had a similar problem with Ubuntu 9.04 on my Lenovo Y530. Changing
to 8.10 and 8.04 didn't help. Unlike some of the other people though, my
headphones worked from the beginning - the only question's been the
sound turning off.

Hello I have the same issue. Headphones connected, speakers not muted.
My laptop is a Hasee W230R and I've also tried ubuntu 8.04 with the same
problem, this distro is dreamlinux 3.5(xfce if this has anything to
do...).

when headphone is connected the front speakers are not muted.
I have a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo xi2528.

If it's fixed in Intrepid and Jaunty, this bug can be closed. A request
for backporting a fix to Hardy is however possible, see SRU in the wiki.

This is still an issue on Hardy. However, my laptop is Hasee, not
fujitsu. Is this considered fix-committed because it's working in
Intrepid or will the fix be backported to Hardy?

Hello, today I've checked the new release of Ubuntu, the Interpid Ibex and I
was really impressed. The bug was solved and now the GNOME volume control
offers nice control. In the tab "Switches" are two options:
* Headphones
* Speakers
I've checked this on Live CD and this really works. So, now is
Dear Leann,
Sorry for the delayed answer. I have tried out the Alpha5 running it from

The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the
upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would
appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel.
There are one of two ways you should be able to test:

I'm a beginner. No idea how to "build" things in Linux. If it's not too
difficult to explain, I'll give it a try.

I also have the same problem. In Windows, internal speakers
automatically mute when headphone is connected. In Ubuntu, internal
