In Hurdy, the current version 0.3.0rc1a-1~8.04.2 just displays "Could
not find compatible GRE between version 1.9.0.1 and 1.9.0.1." and exits.

package and respin?

Sorry, I don't understand what you mean by applying "that diff to the
latest midbrowser package in hardy-proposed manually". Why in hardy-
proposed as midbrowser is available in hardy and hardy-updates (amd64
only though)? When there will be a new midbrowser package for hurdy?

the easiest way is to wait for the new midbrowser package. you can also
apply that diff to the latest midbrowser package in hardy-proposed
manually and respin.
If there is enough demand for this, I can also upload the fixed
midbrowser to the mozillateam PPA.
If you want this, bug me in #ubuntu-mo
So how does an end user get the fixed version? It is not available in
the repositories..

we only listen for PROPERTY changes now ... which should not be
exclusive in general. further we do proper X error handling to not crash
in case
