Something else interesting: After a time I see compiz fusion-icon's CPU
usage creep up, and the effects such as menu appear/disappear and cube
rotation have become noticeably jerky, when they were not before. top
now reports:
top - 20:12:22 up 6:40, 3 users, load average: 1.56, 1.26, 1.09
Task
One final comment: reloading the window manager from the compiz fusion
icon makes the problem go away:
