This does not appear to be a bug in wine.
If you want an easy way to install IE (6 and 7) you can use winetricks (
http://wiki.winehq.org/winetricks )
Instructions for getting it can be found on the wiki page or it can be
downloaded from the wine ppa ( https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-wine/+archive/
I'm suffering with this too, used Wine-Doors to get IE installed and
when I run: wine "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" ,
this is the output terminal gives:
err:module:import_dll Library shdocvw.dll (which is needed by
L"C:\\windows\\system32\\iexplore.exe") not found
err:module
This is still broken. Same story here - Using Wine-Doors to install IE
under wine-1.1.6. I' ve also tried ies4linux as well.

Same thing with me.
I installed wine doors as well and then I reinstalled IE using the
setup.exe.

Yeah that would be me too,
I used the wine doors application to install Internet Explorer...not sure if
this could be the culprit.
