I don't know if this helps of hinders but I can't get kde to see my
digital camera at all. It works fine in gnome and dmesg sees it too.

Busy working w/ bugs :) When I used Kubuntu 7.10 and connected my camera I
was prompted if I wanted to import my pictures into Digikam or open it as a
new device automatically. DOn't know if this will be fixed in the KDE 4
version of Digikam

Thank you for filing this bug. I am a little confused what the problem
is from your description. You say it is detected as another drive,
which is the case for many cameras. Is this different from what KDE3
does? If you click on it in the device notifier, can you access your
photos in dolphin?
