I think this has now been fixed by the release of compatible language
packages for openoffice. Unless anyone objects I'll close the bug.

I think if you go via Adept you will find that this is not a mandatory
requirement -- it's aptitude trying to find a solution and coming up
with something dumb. Can you check?
